For the first time my ongoing series Repainting History will be exhibited! See you there?
It will challenge the way you think about the way we are portrayed throughout art history and make you think critically about the imagery you are used to. Why, for instance, are naked women in art, photography and movies very common, whereas men are usually clothed? And why are women aware of our gaze while men can just be? Why is rape normalized in our shared visual culture (think of Leda and the swan) and what does this do with the way we treat rape victims today?
In this series I take on mythological and historical themes and put them in a contemporary light.
