Charlotte Corday

Charlotte Corday was a strong, fierce force during the French Revolution. She assassinated Marat from the opposite camp in his home.

In this painting you see her just before (or after?) the assassination. A fierce and independent woman, well aware of what she is doing and the impact it will have.

After the assassination she calmly waited at the scene to be arrested by the police, to be executed only four days later. She knew this was the price she’d have to pay and met her death without fear.
